Eve Schillo

Assistant Curator
Wallis Annenberg Photography Department, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CA, USA

Eve Schillo has worked on numerous exhibitions in her 15+ years with LACMA, ranging from Cuban photography, multi-media work by author/artist William S. Burroughs, an ongoing self-portraiture series, Pictorialist displays, and the still and moving imagery by California-based Katy Grannan and Charlie White. Recent exhibitions she contributed to, along with their accompanying catalogues, include This Is Not a Selfie, Larry Sultan: Here & Home, and See the Light–Photography, Perception, Cognition: The Marjorie and Leonard Vernon Collection.

Schillo curates exhibitions highlighting LACMA’s permanent collection, which spans photographic history and appears in galleries dedicated to American, Latin American, Modern, Contemporary, and Japanese art. Recent projects include an exhibition celebrating Mariana Yampolsky (Vincent Price Art Museum, Los Angeles); Sarah Charlesworth: Doubleworld (organized by the New Museum), and Road Trip: Photography and the American West (Musée des Beaux-Arts, Bordeaux).

Specific areas of interest include contemporary artists based in and influenced by Southern California; Latin American practioneers; photographic abstraction; time-based media; and the (as yet unbranded) New Futurists.
