2018 Annual Fund
Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to the 2018 FotoFest Annual Fund. Help us to produce exciting and meaningful exhibitions, learning programs, student curricula, public programs, and the internationally recognized FotoFest Biennial.
FotoFest, the international photographic arts and learning organization, makes very big things happen, and almost every one of those things are offered free of charge to the public. Our exhibitions, programs, the FotoFest Biennial, and Literacy Through Photography learning program use photography as a tool for social engagement, community enrichment, cultural exchange, and life-long learning. Our programs directly benefit thousands of schoolchildren, artists, community members, and visitors from Houston and beyond. FotoFest occupies an exceptional, dynamic space in our culture, creating important platforms for engagement with art and ideas.
This September, FotoFest experienced record attendance for our exhibitions DELUGE and Seeing Harvey: Personal Stories. Public Responses, featuring hundreds of images submitted by community members telling their own stories about Hurricane Harvey through photography. In response, Texas-based art publication Glasstire recently described FotoFest as “a really good organization that can accurately take the temperature of Houston, and give Houston the shows that it needs.”
The FOTOFEST 2018 BIENNIAL presented important contemporary photographic and new media work from forty-seven artists of Indian origin, leading a citywide cultural focus on India and garnering press from local, national, and international outlets, including The New York Times and Art in America. FotoFest’s Literacy Through Photography learning program, which works to improve students’ writing, comprehension, and expression, expanded into over 90 Houston-area classrooms last year, the majority serving low-income neighborhoods.
From helping FotoFest produce its ambitious and thought provoking exhibitions and programs to enabling our learning program to equip students with the cameras, supplies, and confidence to create works of art that stimulate their learning, your support makes a difference.
On behalf of FotoFest, I am asking for your help because your gift makes an impact. Please take a moment to make a tax-deductible contribution to help us achieve our mission.
