Annual Fund

As FotoFest reaches its 30th year as one of the world’s leading photographic organizations, it is re-committing itself to photography as a tool for social engagement, community enrichment, and international exchange. Over 270,000 people from 34 countries come to its citywide, international photographic arts Biennial — the first in the U.S. — and generate a huge cultural and economic impact for the City of Houston.

FotoFest makes very big things happen. In 2016 alone, over 100 million people worldwide were reached by media coverage of the FotoFest Biennial; over 925 artists from 33 countries, 40 states, Texas, and Houston had the opportunity to exhibit work and participate in the FotoFest Biennial at one of the citywide festival’s 120 exhibitions, events, or participating spaces; and the Literacy Through Photography program partnered with 66 public and private schools, reaching 2,200 students.

Your support makes a difference. Your contribution directly funds dynamic exhibitions and programs, arts-based student learning, international cultural outreach, and professional development for artists. For example: $100 provides a digital camera used in the student learning program classrooms; $250 supports an educator from a low-income school to attend Literacy Through Photography Teacher Training, learning new methods for stimulating student creativity and exploration; and a $500 contribution affords bus transportation for a school or community group to visit FotoFest for a special tour with artists and curators. A gift from $1,000 to $10,000 assists the creation and presentation of exhibitions and makes you a host of an upcoming FotoFest exhibition such as INTERNATIONAL DISCOVERIES VI, with new works and approaches from artists discovered around the world; REFUGEE, featuring internationally renowned artists addressing the global refugee crisis; and the latest installment in FotoFest’s series of exhibitions featuring Texas artists. Your gift also helps exhibiting artists come to Houston to share artwork and ideas with students and the public.

We are asking for your support because your dollars make a positive impact. Please take a moment to make a tax-deductible contribution to help FotoFest continue these programs and fulfill its mission!

Thank you very much,

Steven Evans
Executive Director, FotoFest
